This was written back in 2007. I was a big fan of the show, Danny Phantom, and my favorite song was "Hey There, Delilah" by Plain White T's. So I combined the characters with the song and viola. Here we go.

Sam sighed quietly to herself as the plane landed. She stepped out, carrying her only suitcase and following in line behind Tucker to Mr. Lancer who stood outside the plane, ushering the students into the airport.
"This is going to be so cool!" Tucker exclaimed, rolling his suitcase along behind him. The students entered the airport. Tucker looked behind him at Sam, who was just staring apathetically at the ground. "Aw, come on, Sam. Cheer up. We're only going to be here for a little while."
"Two months," Sam corrected. "We'll be here for two months doing this stupid animal-research project." She folded her arms over her chest and sat down on a bench. Tucker sat next to her.
"Sam, you were so excited about this trip when Mr. Lancer announced it," he said.
"That was before I knew Danny wouldn't be able to come."
"You miss him, huh?" Tucker smiled. "I bet he misses you too."
Sam blushed at his comment. "..You think so?"
Tucker smiled. "I know so."

"Aaaachoo!" Danny sneezed. The jerk of his body sent his blanket flying off of his shoulders. He shivered and snatched it up again. "Aw man... this stinks."
"Danny, you should be in bed." Jazz said, entering the room. She tilted her head at her little brother and smiled. "You've got a new bump on the tip of your nose." She poked him. He scratched his nose vigorously.
"I'm fine, Jazz." Danny turned back to his desk, wiping his nose again. Jazz set the bowl of soup she had in her hands, down on his bed-side table.
"You know, you've kept yourself locked in your room since Sam and Tucker left for New York," she said. Danny was silent. "Oh come on, are you going to sit there and mope all day?" She asked. Danny still didn't answer. Jazz waited a moment. "You miss 'em?"
"Of course I do," Danny answered finally. "They're going to be gone for two months. Two whole months."
"But they'll be having fun. And you'll be... resting. Getting rid of those nasty chicken pox.. as long as we can keep Dad from finding out. Then he might try to quarantine you for having spirit-pox or something...." Jazz smiled. Danny chuckled.
"Thanks Jazz, but I really am fine," he said. Jazz sighed, defeated, and walked out of his bedroom. Danny picked up the pencil and pressed the point to the paper. "Okay, Fenton... what are you going to say?" He asked himself, looking at the sealed envelope that was being sent to Tucker. An empty one with "Samantha Manson" written across the front was lying next to his hand. He stared at the paper in front of him. The only words on it were, "Dear Sam,". He sighed and cleared his throat uncomfortably. "Okay. Dear Sam..." He began. "What's it like in New York City?...."
Hey there Samantha,
What's it like in New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away
But, Girl, tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you
I swear it's true
Sam put the letter down on the table and put her fingers to her mouth. She smiled and read the words again. Her lips trembled. "Danny... I-"
"Hey Sam! We're leaving for the zoo now." Tucker entered the hotel room. "Didn't you want to see the purple-back gorillas?"
Sam looked up, her violet eyes twinkling. "Yeah, Tuck. I'll be right there." She said quietly. He gave her a lopsided smile, shrugged, and walked back out of the room, closing the door behind him. Sam looked back at the letter and picked up the item wrapped in brown paper. She carefully unwrapped the item and looked at it.
"A CD?" She asked herself. All that was marked on the CD was the name "Sam". She took her headphones and popped the CD into the player....
Hey there Samantha,
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice it's my disguise
I'm by your side
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me
Danny smiled to himself as the sun went down. Only four more weeks and they'd be back, safe and sound. He rubbed his arms, the bumps were almost completely gone.
"Sam.. I-" He started, then stopped. His blue eyes twinkled in the setting sun. "I miss you a lot...." He said quietly.
Danny sat back down at his desk and took his dad's old guitar out of its case under the desk. He strummed on it lightly and hummed to himself.
"Sam.. I wish.." He sighed. "I wish I could just tell you how I feel in person. And not through these stupid lyrics...." He mumbled. His fingers played the old, familiar tune as he sang quietly to himself,
Hey there Samantha,
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me, Girl,
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good
Sam smiled to herself as the next package came in. She tore the brown paper off and popped the CD in, to listen to the next verse. She laid down in her bed, staring at the ceiling. His voice was soft, comforting to her.
"Danny... I miss you so much. But don't worry..." She said softly. "It's only a couple more weeks. Tuck and I are having so much fun here. I hope you're not too lonely." She rolled over on her side and pressed the "Repeat" button on her CD player, closing her eyes. "Oh Danny, I've got so much left to say..."
Hey there Samantha,
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away,
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
"Only a week left." Danny stretched and sat back in his chair. The song lyrics laid, unfinished, on his desk and his guitar propped up against the wall. "I can't wait 'til you guys get back." He grabbed his guitar and strummed gently on it.
"A thousand miles seems pretty far..."
A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Samantha, I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame
Sam sat in the window seat of the airplane, staring out at the students loading it. Tucker walked up to her and sat down.
"So, you had fun after all, huh?" He asked.
She smiled. "Yes."
"I told you, you would. This project is going to get both you and me an A plus!" He smiled happily to himself.
"Yeah," Sam said, lost in thought.
Tucker glanced over at her and sighed. "All right, Juliet..." He chuckled. "Here. This came in the mail for you today." He handed her a package. "I think it's from your Romeo...."
Sam ignored his comment and quickly snatched it from him, opening the package. She read through the letter quickly and then looked at the CD. Popping it into her player, she pressed the button and listened,
Hey there Samantha,
You be good and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You'll know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there Samantha, here's to you
This one's for you
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me.
Danny waited impatiently outside his door, tapping his foot. Soon, he heard the sounds of a vehicle coming and wrung his hands nervously. His heart raced as the city bus pulled up and stopped. Two familiar faces stepped out.
"Hey Dude!" Tucker shouted, dragging his bags behind him. Sam nearly pushed him out of the way and leapt out of the bus.
"Danny!" She shouted, encompassing the boy in a hug. She blushed and Danny blinked. Tucker grinned mischieviously.
"I think I'll give you two some time alone...." He chuckled and walked into FentonWorks. Danny blushed and wrapped his arms around Sam.
"Hey there, Samantha," he whispered. Sam looked up, her eyes glassy and a stupid grin planted on her face.
"You are such a dork," she whispered back, giggling. Danny smiled and put his hand up. She closed her mouth and looked at the sign for quiet. Danny gently leaned in.. and kissed her.
